The Tragic Loss of Ben Curry
Ben Curry
On May 8 of 2018, Ben Curry was a participant in a physical education swimming class conducted at San Ramon Valley High School. Ben and other students were required to tread water, with extra time added by the instructor if anyone reached out to a lane line for support. Ben drowned; no one realized he had sunk to the bottom of the pool. No one even noticed he was missing, until the next class arrived at the pool, after lunch.
Ben's heart-broken parents settled with SRVUSD in 2020 for $8 Million in the boy's death and the terrible negligence that allowed it to occur. Ben's parents grieve still.
The links below tell a portion of Ben's story. His parents and extended family, his friends, and the rest of the world will never learn nor enjoy what great things this young man would have accomplished had he lived.
